Did you know most of our favourite candies are wrapped in unwanted waste? Although the candy wrappers are made from plastic, they can't be recycled, since they are a mix of different materials and difficult and expensive to recover. So instead we toss it all in the trash. But these small, colourful wrappers aren't that hard to recycle after all...

A quick search on the internet for items made out of candy wrappers will generate page after page of handbags, wallets and even jewelry.

The idea is to turn packaging, such as M&M's, Snickers, Twix and so on into all kinds og bags. i.e. totes, phone holders and laptop sleeves. You can even make them out of newspapers, magazines, coca-cola plastic and such.

It's a new unique and creative way of recycling and the outcome is even stylish. Each bag is a one-of-a-kind and it's a great way to turn trash into treasure.

Some say it all began in a prison. The purpose was to kill some time and use their creativity and they made all the purses out of wrappers. But soon their relatives became aware of the recycled purses and started doing the same, eventually they turned this into their own art form.

The popularity of candy wrapper purses has grown to such extent, that they are available all around the world. Something that started as a prisoner hobby has made a fashion statement across the globe.
